Rakesh (Kumar), the son of a Rangoon merchant, comes to Calcutta in search of
his brother's killer with the help of Joe, a restaurant manager, and Edna (Madhubala).
Rakesh knew not what adventure lay in store for him across the Howrah Bridge (1958). He
had rushed to Calcutta from Rangoon on receipt of the news that his elder
brother had met a gruesome end in the great metropolis, the body being found on
the bridge. Rakesh had sworn to track down the killer and recover the Chinese
Dragon, treasured family heirloom stolen by the murders. Rakesh’s search led him
into contact with various interesting people. There was Piarelal feared overlord
of the underworld.
