A woman and her child are cruelly abandoned by her husband. She struggles to
bring up the child and he grows up to be a talented singer (Kamal Hasan). But
now this young man’s only ambition is to find his father. His mother reluctantly
agrees and gives him a letter to take with him. Traveling to Simla, he dreams of
being re-united with his father. A group of young college students is on the bus
with him and he notices a vivacious girl (Reena Roy) and begins to fall in love
with her. In Simla, the young man’s father rejects him.
